Size: 3" x 4" - Deep birch board panel (hanging hardware attached)
I try to use colours I'm not in a habit of using. If I always use the same ones, I feel like I'm not using everything I have at my disposal, and what's the fun in that? The almost translucent yellow overtop of the blue is one such colour. It's mixed here with some ivory, and the blue gives it more depth, but it's a fairly soft colour. And this coral...also not very prominent in anything I usually do, but a lovely colour nonetheless.
I got really original with the circles on this one, and went way back to grade school - those are my fingerprints. I brought the coral up into the yellow with a used gift card, and then lifted the wet paint a bit to get those veiny lines. I set the card down above the swipes to imprint the opposite of those lines in the field of yellow.
I'm also a scrapbooker, so I have a ton & a half of ephemera. This little word - devotion - was in with a set of anniversary paper. The light pink and soft brown went along with the other soft colours in this piece, albeit, not in the same exact tone. But that's ok. It's art, after all.
It's a pretty little painting, perfect for a small spot in your office or little corner in your home. I love that these deep birch board panels stand on their own, or can be hung on the wall with just a push pin to hold them up.
