I found a book of maps for Calgary from back in the 80s. Which is super fun, but when you do a transfer, everything comes out backwards (makes sense, right?) But when you use that backwards transfer as just texture in the background, who really cares if you can read anything properly or if the route is completely turned around? Hahahaa
You can see that map peeking through at the bottom. I painted just a touch of blue overtop and along the side, and let that dry. The right side covered more than the rest of the painting, so perhaps it was two types of blues.
I washed the pink over the blue after it was dry, and then put the smallest bloob (sure, that's a technical term, why not?) of white across the middle. After it was all dry, I took a red pencil crayon to the top half and adhered on a quote, from Brene Brown.
“the connection as a result of authenticity”
It just makes you want to be a better person. All her talks do. And while my painting doesn't strive to reach those heights, it can, at least, make you smile when you see it. And that's something.
